The designer of our new logo just sent in a final treatment. Wow. It’s beautiful. I can’t wait to unveil the new brand to the world. Come to think of it I will probably reveal it here first :)

I’m just staring at the logo. THIS is going to be our mark. Happy.

I’m not going to talk about what I’m up to until its actually gets closer to a usable state. It involves creating a base XMPP implementation and general message routing all based in OSGi. Theres a bit more to it than that but if you’re a real nerd you’ll read between the lines.

OSGi’s Declarative Services win btw.

How many followers do you have? or Am I more popular than you?

Many networks, including Tumblr, have a notion of people you follow and those who follow you. Tumblr keeps this data private thank god but other services proudly display the numbers for all to see.

Humans are desperate to quantify their existence. In today’s world, the number of followers or friends you have on a social network is becoming a standard among the self-obsessed. Its fucking sad.

People are fixated on this statistically insignificant number. Some try to make sense of the ratio of the people you follow to the people that follow you. The assumption here is that you a infinitely more cool if you follow less people than those that follow you. The logic goes like this: you’re so fucking busy being awesome that if you were to even attempt to follow the number of people that follow you a personal assistant would be required.

Also, if you someone unfollows you you shouldn’t feel sad. If you do: the machines have won.

"You don’t need to know which web browser I support, or what blog-network I’m a part of. You don’t need me to point you to a social-bookmarking site, because chances are, you know them already. And if not, Google is always right there. You don’t need know what song I just listened to, because hopefully you have your own soundtrack. And I don’t think knowing what book I last read is of any real use to you unless I write a lengthy review and tell you what I thought of it.”

- Jack Shedd (via topherchris) (via marco)

Anger Management Gas Station

Anger Management Gas Station: via Persai

My Saturday Night

Miller Lite and coding up a neat idea. My mood tonight brought to you by the album Lost and Gone Forever by Guster.
