We think too much
about developing software. What if instead of trying to create huge companies or sell enterprise software at 5k a pop that we sold little bits of software, little bits of content, at a really low price.
There are services emerging that make payment a ton easier. What if someone could buy a bit of really useful code you made available for $1.99 over a text message? Software could become an impulse buy.
I develop so much software every year. As I hack away I begin to notice the general usefulness of what I’ve created but shy away from putting it out there. I overthink it. I’ve gone down the open source route before and we got next to nothing back from the community. So what about some incentive to put all this stuff out there with minimal pain for both sides. Again, the key is cheap and useful.
A musician sells a CD or a single song.
A filmmaker might offer a short.
An artist will sell a print.
A photographer will sell a picture.
We are content creators. Lets start thinking like it.
